Photography Classes and Workshops with Scott Turnmeyer
Scott Turnmeyer is well established professional landscape, wildlife and portrait photographer. He has been teaching classes and workshops for many years.
Each year, Scott hosts a limited number of classes and workshops touching on many different styles of photography. His goal is to help you enjoy and experience this world through your lens as he does.
What is the difference between a workshop and a class?
Great question! In a class, Scott is teaching. Anything from composition, lighting to camera specific functions, etc. Classes are more lecture and/or hands on based and usually performed in the classroom at Turnmeyer Galleries on Main Street in Front Royal.
A Workshop is a bit different than a class. In the Workshops, Scott is in the field with you, where situations change rapidly. There his role is not to teach, but to help you get great shots. He will help with composition, camera settings, etc, but it's about getting the photos in a workshop.
Which should I take?
Both!!! Most people take both of the classes first (which Scott highly recommends), then they join him in his workshops to practice what they learned while he is there to help. It's a perfect way to learn more about photography, your camera, etc.
There are 2 types of classes offered, which is right for me?
Scott has 2 classes, the first is good for any type of camera (even phones). In this lecture style class Scott teaches the aspects that he uses in his photography for lighting and composition. The 2 fundamentals that make a great photo. This class is the HIGHLY recommend by Scott for EVERYONE. You will instantly come out of the class taking better photos.
The next class is how to shoot in manual mode. You need a camera that allows you to shoot in manual mode, usually a DSLR camera with interchangeable lenses. In this class Scott teaches how to switch into Manual mode and how to shoot in that mode to get the most out of your camera. You'll learn ISO, Aperture, Shutter Speed, Depth of Field and so much more. Scott is self taught so he has structured this class to help you learn the fundamentals quickly and easily (it's not really hard!!).
